ELECTED POSITION AVAILABLE

 

Currently, there is one elected position available on the Millwood Home & School Committee:

 

Interim Vice President

 

All Millwood parents/guardians have the opportunity to run for positions on the Millwood Home & School Association Committee.   Anyone who runs for office must be a Millwood Junior School parent/guardian, has attended at least two meetings during the past school year, and is committed to attending the monthly Millwood Home & School meetings.   This position will be held for a one year (the remainder of a two year term which was held by the previous Vice President).   There are eight meetings held during the school year.

 

ROLE OF ELECTED COMMITTEE MEMBER

 

Interim Vice President:

  • Help prepare the meeting agendas

  • chair meetings

  • Ensure minutes are reviewed, recorded, and maintained

  • Encourage consensus among members and facilitate the resolution of conflict

  • Establish sub-committees when deemed advisable

  • Communicate with the school principal on behalf of the Home & School Committee

  • Assist in developing policies and procedures when required

  • Assist with the recruitment of new members and volunteers

  • Participate in sub-committees when needed

Treasurer

 

All Millwood parents/guardians have the opportunity to run for positions on the Millwood Home & School Association Committee.  Anyone who runs for office must be a Millwood Junior School parent/guardian, has attended at least two meetings during the current school year, and is committed to attending the monthly Millwood Home & School meetings.  Positions are held for a 2 year term and there are nine meetings held during the school year.

 

ROLE OF ELECTED COMMITTEE MEMBER

 

Treasurer:

  • Understand and promote the role of Home & School Committee and maintain strong relationships with school administration and Home & School Committee Executive Committee members 

  • Supervise and manage bank account activity 

  • Reconcile Home & School Committee revenue and expense activities to bank statement 

  • Keep organized records including monthly bank statements 

  • Keep records of all revenues and expenses including receipts 

  • Maintain spreadsheet to allocate revenue and expense activities to appropriate budget sub-categories and track/report monthly progress and financial status to Committee

  • Prepare annual budget 

  • Provide updates and financial status and present a current financial report, as well as the most currently available bank statement, at each Home & School Executive and General Meeting

  • Provide historical (past) budget reference information as needed and answer Home & School Committee queries 

  • Issue cheques for signature regarding expenses 

  • Make deposits of revenues 

  • Pursue payment/contact NSF cheque defaults as needed 

  • Submit books, invoices, receipts and statements for verification annually

  • Participate in sub-committees when needed

 

Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel 

  • Financial acumen and experience
